Safety Protocols and Paintball Equipment Guidelines
The Safety Certified Paintball Mask
Los Angeles Paintball Parks require players to wear a safety certified paintball mask while on the playing fields. Paintball and airsoft are two similar sports where projectiles are being shot out of air guns, however, paintballs are larger, travel at a higher velocity speed, and have way more impact than airsoft pellets.
This is why a paintball mask needs to be a full-face mask with googles as one unit that covers up to the forehead, down to the chin, and wraps around the side of the face. Paintball masks need to meet the standards of ANSI, American National Standards Institute, and ASTM, American Society for Testing and Materials.
In addition, insurance companies that provide liability coverage for Paintball Parks in Los Angeles and nationwide, require the same equipment guidelines when it comes to battle masks. The reason being, paintballs can put out eye balls.
Safety protocols at Paintball USA start with masks being worn at all times when on the playing fields and in the target range. ASTM develops the semi rigid plastic paintball masks are made of. The masks are subjected to high velocity projectile testing. https://www.paintballusa.org/
The goggles built into the paintball mask are made of poly-carbonate sturdy material that is shatter proof for obvious reasons. The goggle lenses are somewhat scratch proof, however, over time, they tend to endure tiny surface scratches from cleaning with fibrous cloth. At Paintball USA, we use micro fiber cloth and a soapy water-based solution that contains antibacterial concentrate.
Paintball Chest Guard
Paintball USA offers chest protectors in all rental packages. The chest guard is made of a thick foam layer covered with a sturdy polyurethane exterior that absorbs the impact of being hit with a paintball in the torso area. The outer material makes cleaning easy.
Players are encouraged and welcome to wear chest guards that they may use in other sports such as BMX riding, martial arts, fencing, hockey, soccer, and baseball. There is no such thing as wearing to much safety gear in paintball.
Barrel Sleeves
Customers using rental guns and customized personal guns at Paintball USA must keep a barrel sleeve, cover, or condemn, over the barrel at all times when not on the playing field or target range. This is a required safety measure to prevent injury. Excited players may easily pull the trigger of their gun accidentally firing a paintball.
Referees at Paintball USA have been trained in conducting safe and fun games. In order to keep all of our customers safe, there are many rules that players must follow. We have a player orientation on our website https://www.paintballusa.org/about/rules-of-play-for-valued-patrons
Some of these safety rules are;
- Keep your face mask on at all times.
- Players may not shoot the same player more than three consecutive times.
- Allowable distance to shoot at a player is no more than ten feet.
- If you are hit with a paintball, you must call yourself out.
- No cheating. No foul language. No physical fighting.
- All markers must be tested for correct velocity prior to games.
