Getting Hit with a Paintball

Always the best idea to cover up as much exposed skin as possible when participating in paintball games. Sweats are great because they are thick, easy to run in and covers the arms and legs.

Long sleeves, long pants, neck protection such as a scarf or bandana protection are advisable. Many beginner players get shot in the neck sometimes leaving a welt. Exposed fingers get shot as well. Wear some cloth gloves.

At Paintball USA, we have all kinds of protection for rent and sale. We rent out one-piece overalls, pants, jackets, knee, and elbow pads. Several choices of bandanas are available. Gloves for rent in all sizes and paintball gloves are for sale. https://www.paintballusa.org/pricing

Paintballs cannot kill a person. Naturally, if a paintball air gun is used as a baseball bat per se, it could kill someone. Players are not allowed to use paintball air guns in such a manner at Paintball USA. There are rules that are strictly enforced on the playing fields. Violence and profanity are prohibited.

Serious injuries can happen if safety rules are not followed. Our top priority safety rule is never taking your mask off during a paintball game. Eyes can be permanently damaged from a paintball.

If you are not adhering to proper paintball game attire, ears and bruising on any parts of the body with exposed skin can certainly happen. If hit in the throat with a paintball, a player can suffer from breathing issues if not wearing a scarf or bandana.

Ankle twists and sprains happen occasionally if a player is not used to physical exercise or not wearing shoes that give proper support. Sports cleats, hiking boots and sneakers with treads on the bottom are best.

When hit with a paintball, it can feel like being snapped with a rubber band. Worst case scenario, and if you are not properly dressed, the hit will leave a bruise and/or welt.

Suggested attire for paintball games.

  • Do not expose your skin.
  • Wear long-sleeved shirts, pants, and boots.
  • Wear padding or layers of clothes. This reduces the force of a paintball against your skin.
  • Hooded sweatshirts cover the back of the head and neck.
  • Wear a paintball safety mask.
  • Wear neck protection and gloves.

If hit with a paintball, treat accordingly.

  • Wash the affected area with soap and water.
  • Spray on antiseptic.
  • Place a band aid or bandage on the broken skin.
  • Cover up the injury with clothing before playing another game.
  • When you get home, use an ice pack.
  • Soak your injury in Epsom Salts to soothe the area.

Paintball is not as popular as it once was because people, especially parents, see it as being a dangerous sport.  Many people that are unfamiliar with the sport believe that players just have a free for all out on the field and fire away at each other.

At Paintball USA, there are multiple outdoor playing fields with games being conducted and monitored by trained referees. Safety rules are strictly followed to ensure all players have a safe, fun experience. https://www.paintballusa.org/
